Christmas & NYE – The US

Christmas & NYE - The US 1

As we wrapped up our time in Mexico, it was time to head to our next destination: Milwaukee.

Milwaukee

Why Milwaukee, you ask? Easy, that’s where Mike, my friend and cofounder of Ollie, lives, and we planned to spend Christmas and NYE together.

It was our very first trip to the United States, and I was honestly quite surprised by how well Milwaukee met our expectations – it was freaking cold, but the city vibed with us overall!

In many ways, it felt like one of the bigger industrial cities in my home country, Germany, but at the same time, it was entirely different.

I honestly expected something smaller, but Milwaukee’s skyline is pretty big!

I wish I had my camera with me more often, but you know how busy the days around Christmas and NYE are.

There are just too many things to do, and I also wanted to have frequent chats with Mike about all things Ollie and what we will do to amaze our fellow Ollie customers and community.

NYC

Our last stop before heading home was New York City – definitely a must-visit for every tourist, and it was also a quick flight back to Berlin.

At first, it didn’t catch us; it seemed over-hyped, over-touristic, and many things just weren’t as mind-blowing anymore after travelling the entire world for a year.

However, after spending some more time here, I have to admit: I get it. It’s amazing, you just have to look a bit closer and move out of the tourist spots.

We got pretty lucky with the weather as well, as we arrived just as the last snowstorm was over and the temperature was getting up, so it was super easy for us to be on the road all day long.

It was definitely a place worthy to end our 12-month-long journey of travelling the world, and what should I say – we are already planning for our next big trip! 😎

2026 will be way more work-focussed again, with some shorter vacations here and there and a few conferences, but nothing as life-changing as 2025.

I wish you a great 2026 – stay healthy, stay focussed and don’t get fooled by the AI doomers.
